Happy Fourth of July!

It is so interesting to me how much holidays change as I get older.
I guess that comes from getting a better understanding of the meanings of the holidays.
Fourth of July is one of those days!
Growing up, Fourth of July meant family BBQ, swimming, watching fireworks, and throwing poppers.
Just a typical summer day!
However, this year I have found myself very excited for the Fourth of July!
Yes, it will still be marked by a family BBQ and firework watching; however, as I have stopped to ponder why we celebrate today, I became extremely humbled and grateful.
As I was thinking about things this weekend leading up to today, I truly felt in my heart that I am PROUD to be an American!
I was humbled as I thought about different countries who do not enjoy the freedoms that I so often take for granted.

I am thankful for the freedom I have to practice my religion.
I am thankful for the freedom I have to make choices for myself.
I am thankful for the freedom I have to be me!

I am so thankful for this wonderful holiday, it is now one of my favorites!
I am thankful for this wonderful country, the many freedoms I have, and I am especially grateful for those who have made sacrifices for me to enjoy these freedoms!
