Lessons in Dating: The Beginning Stages

If you have read my blog posts in the past,
you will know that the word dating is one that does not frequent my vocabulary.
yep, I have been terrified and clueless when it comes to dating and have managed to keep it out of my life.
Yes, I have gone on dates, but they never progressed to more than that. Just dates.

Well, my friends. That has finally changed.
Three weeks ago I went on a date with a guy.
Little did I know I would end up dating him.
I feel that my decision to include more vulnerability and braveness into my life played a big part in this.

Although we have only been dating for three weeks,
I feel like I have already learned so much.
So much about myself.
So much about the guy I'm dating.
And so much about relationships in general.
It's been so good!

I feel like one of the most important things I learned is: Just have fun.
When we first went out, I came home and started stressing, just like most girls do.
I was talking to my roommate and just worried trying to sort out if I was interested and whatnot.
She then gave me some of the best dating advice I'd ever received. She said:
"Just keep having fun together. Dating is fun. As long as you are having fun, you keep going out. As soon as you stop having fun, it's time to break up."

This has stuck with me during the emotional ups and downs I have already had these past few weeks.
(Trying to figure things out is definitely the hardest part of initial dating).
I am glad that I am able to recognize the fun that we have been having together.
IT's been amazing to see how our relationship has developed as a result.

Of course I don't know what is going to happen in the future.
However, for right now, I am thankful for the lessons I have learned thus far.
I am looking forward to more learning experiences that come with this new experience.
