Look Ahead AND Believe

Last week, I had the opportunity to watch General Conference, and was able to hear the Lord's prophets and apostles speak and share wonderful messages.
I always enjoy this time of year and the things I am able to learn through General Conference.
This year a simple one liner really stuck with me.
It is this:
Currently, I am training to run a 5k, and will be running it in less than 2 months.
Training for this 5k has been extremely difficult for me, as I've never been a distance runner.
I've longed to be, but have never reached that goal.
Many times, during my runs, I get very tired and discouraged and feel like quitting.
However, it seems like those times I want to quit, I am reminded to "look up and believe."
As I look up, find a smaller goal to reach, and believe I am able to make it, I am able to do much more than I thought I could.

I was thinking about this as I was running this morning, and how it applies to my life.
I feel like, in my life, there are many goals that just don't seem attainable.
I am able to "Look ahead" and see them and set my eyes on them, but they just seem too far away.
I realized that I've been missing out on a crucial aspect:
{AND Believe.}

It is not enough to simply "look ahead" and see the goal. While that it is good, it will only get me so far.
If I don't truly believe that I can attain the goals, I never will attain them.

I am thankful for that reminder that I received at General Conference. I didn't realize it at the time, but this is definitely a lesson that I needed at this time in my life!
