It's the End of the World as we Know it.....and I FEEL FINE!

So I saw the movie, 2012, last night we some of my friends from high school. It definitely a fun, but interesting time. It was so fun to go out with some of my best friends from high school, who I hadn't done anything with for at least 5 months. It was most definitely fun to get together and have fun together, just like old times. It's always fun to reconnect with people you haven't seen or done anything with for a while. I love my friends!

As far as the movie goes.....that's where the interesting part comes in. For those of you who haven't heard/seen the movie, I will give a brief little summary of what the movie is about. Basically, it is about the end of the world. Many people believe in the Mayan (I think that's the right group) calendar that predicts the end of the world to occur on 12/21/12, the winter solstice. Many scientists and what not have done research to "prove" this to be true, and sadly many people believe that the world is going to end in 2012. This movie is all about the scientists who work to track when the end of the world is near, and how the governments of the different countries work together to try to prepare for the end. It also shows all the disasters will occur when the end is near, and how people react to them. Not going to lie, the movie is pretty intense with crazy earthquakes, fires, and  flooding. It was kind of cool to watch all of that take place, although the results and the aftermaths were devastating. Those parts made the movie interesting and kept me in tune to it. However, it was also full of so many extremely cheesy parts! I won't go into details about those, but it seriously was so cheesy during some of the intense scenes. So, we ended up laughing hysterically during many of those parts. It probably was annoying to the people around us, but whatever it was fun! Anyways, the movie wasn't completely terrible, but if you see be prepared for a lot of cheese!

After seeing this movie, I started having my thoughts....like my crazy little mind often does. This movie made me really sad for the people who actually believe the end of the world will take place on that day. I mean it could, no one knows when it will happen, but it just makes me sad that so many people stress and worry about the disasters that will happen, that they forget, or may not even know, about the sweet that will occur at the end of this world. So many people devote a lot of time, energy, and money to coming up with ways to survive the disasters that will take place. When really, the solution is so simple! All you have to do is follow Heavenly Father's plan. Christ set the example for us to follow if we want to return to our Heavenly Father. It just makes me sad that people just focus on all the disasters that will take place, but don't know or point out that these are signs of the coming of Christ. And just like everything in life, even though they are bitter things, there will always be the sweet to follow. It's just comforting to know that when all these things are happening we don't have to worry or be afraid because we know the truth of what will happen if we live our lives in a righteous manner. While others are fearing, we can say to ourselves, "It's the end of the world as we know it...and I feel fine!"

Scripture thought: D&C 38:30 "I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than the which shall speak of the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." I just know that as we continue to do what is right and prepare ourselves for whatever may come our way, that we will have no need to fear when different things arise. The Lord watches over us and when we constantly turn to Him, we cease to fear. What a blessing this is, as things constantly change and are often scary to adapt to. If we treasure up the wisdom we have been taught, live it, and seek to find more truth, our fear will cease to exist! We will be prepared!
